It doesn't get more impressive than this. The mighty Victoria Falls, or the 'smoke that thunders', is not just one huge waterfall (it's that too) but a hive of activity with plenty to keep you occupied, from cruising the Zambezi to bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls Bridge.

Stand in front of earth's largest sheet of falling water with a spray so powerful it hits the rocks a hundred metres below, bursts back into the air and descends on you as rain from above.

This must be one of the world's most impressive international borders, where water cascades over sheer rock in Zambia and creates a rainforest with the resulting mist in Zimbabwe. The falls can be viewed from either country (or choose to visit both) giving you a side-on view in Zambia or a full-frontal confrontation in Zimbabwe.

The water may be the reason you come, but it won't be what makes you stay. The towns of Livingstone and Victoria Falls offer activities to keep you busy for weeks (we recommend two to three days). Base yourself near the action of town or retreat to more of a bush setting.

Throw yourself into adrenalin-charged adventure from a microlight flight over the falls to a day of riding world-class rapids on the Zambezi. Alternatively, relax with an historic train ride, a calming sunset cruise on the Zambezi River or high tea at the Victoria Falls Hotel with vistas of the bridge and the mist beyond.
