Meno A Kwena

Why We Love It

Meno A Kwena is such a unique and special place. As you walk in you instantly want to take off your shoes and feel the cool white sand between your toes (except in October!).  There are several inviting lounges with comfortable day beds adorned with colourful scatter cushions, persian rugs and all with magnificent views. The plunge pool is built from natural rock from the area and is the perfect place to spend your siesta time, watching the elephant drinking below. There is so much character and attention to detail at the camp, you can be forgiven for not even wanting to go on a game drive!

Meno A Kwena in a Nutshell

Meno A Kwena has recently come under new ownership – but they aren’t new to the safari industry and have retained that welcoming relaxed feeling and colourful character that the camp was famous for. The accommodation tents have been rebuilt to be more spacious including gauze sides and doors affording open views. They have added an en-suite bathroom, yet kept the original unique outside showers. The main area features an open tented dining tent and lounge, looking across to the boma area.

In the dry season, Meno A Kwena is the perfect base for an armchair safari as wildlife comes down to drive at the river or waterhole in great numbers. In the green season you can head into the Makgadikgadi National Park in search of the zebra and wildebeest migration.

 What Meno A Kwena Offer

  •  Walking tours with indigenous locals – providing an amazing insight into their culture, the area’s native plants and spectacular wildlife
  • Game drives into Makgadikgadi National Park

Did You Know

The Boteti River is one of the furthest reaches of the Okavango Delta, it stopped flowing for many years until 2008 when it started flowing again and brought a renewed lifeline for wildlife throughout the dry season

Meno A Kwena offers sleep out adventures in the Makgadikgadi Pans for those on a longer stay, minimum 3 nights and season dependent

Feel Good Factor

Meno A Kwena worked with the Botswana Government to create a development programme with the Xai Xai community, using tourism to help sustain their traditional heritage.

All staff has been hired from the local area, bringing employment and growth to an otherwise rural area.

The camp supports Mareamaoto village and school
